Option 1
The standard engine can be a little "flat" so we have developed an initial package of simple mods to "liven up" the performance and throttle response. Includes:-
- Powerboost adjustable fuel pressure regulator kit - increases fuel pressure by 4-6 psi, therefore increasing fuel delivered for each injector pulse and is quicker acting for on/off acceleration. The standard engine is set up as lean as possible for fuel economy and emissions in a Mondeo or Focus! but it likes a little more fuel (not too
much, so fuel economy is not affected much) for responsive driving in a sportscar. We set them up properly using a temporary in line fuel pressure gauge and test for optimum driveability. Price £300 fitted. - ITG Performance airfilter element, fitted in standard cylindrical housing and retaining cold air intake pipe (important) £50 fitted.
- Catalyst replacement link pipe (£75 fitted) or performance race catalyst (app £350 fitted) These are for pre Focus "silvertop" engines only. Focus "black top" engined cars with catalyst down the side of the engine require more extensive exhaust modifications. POA.
Option II - Throttle Bodies
This enables owners to extract as much normally aspirated performance as they require for either road and/or competition, includes the following:
- Individual tapered throttle bodies, throttle linkage and air filter
- Fuel rail and injectors
- Standard or modified cam-shafts
- Omex programmable ECU, harness, sensors etc.
Each car programmed by laptop "on the road" for optimum driveability and performance.
£3500 fitted for standard cams, 155 BHP. Modified cams and cylinder heads, up to 180 BHP POA.
These engines rev freely and responsively to 7000 revs but remain docile and flexible for pottering about with good mid-range torque.
Option III - Supercharger Conversion
Smooth, torquey and free-revving. 160 BHP, 160 lbs ft torque. Perfect fast road touring 4/4 engine. We use an Eaton Supercharger with "off boost" bypass valve for good fuel economy and smooth off throttle running, but instant boost with throttle application. P.O.A.
We have so far completed 4 of these conversions with both excellent reliability and very pleased owners!
Option IV - Turbo Charger Conversion
A popular choice with our customers, giving real +8 performance to a 4/4. Max torque of 190 lbs/ft at 3750 revs with 180 BHP delivered smoothly and progressively. Low pressure system using standard engine and compression ratio, boosting to 10psi max, so engine still responsive off boost. Small roller bearing turbocharger used for quick pick-up and no lag! Excellent fuel economy. £4950+VAT fitted.
